Is Your Graduate School A Walk-In-The-Park?

By Rodger Bailey, MS at 12/09/09 17:21

Literally, do you have to walk through a park to go from one of your classes or activities to the next? At my school we walk from one building to another through a park. And, the campus is nestled up against a forest.

I know that many university campuses are designed to feel like a park as you move from one activity to the next and that landscape is great. I know that many campuses are inside modern buildings and there is no park and very little natural green around you when you are at school.

For my BS in Social Science, I attended Fordham University in NYC. The main campus for Fordham is in the Bronx and that whole campus is like a park. It is wonderful there. But, I did not attend that campus. I went to the Lincoln Center campus in Manhattan. This was a large office building which had been outfitted as a university with classrooms. I had to take the subway to and from classes and my work at Columbia Medical Center.

I really prefer the park-like atmosphere where I go to school now. What has been your experience and what do you (would you) like for your graduate program?
